construction이란 단어가 나온 김에 건축과 관련된 용어를 몇 개 덧붙이면, '건축설계사'는 architect, '막노동자'는 construction worker라고 한다. 북미에서는 construction worker들도 회사 소속으로 소득세(income tax)도 내고, 노후연금(pension)도 받게 된다.

사실 북미에서 전문직을 제외하고 시간당 임금이 가장 높은 직업을 말하라고 하면 쓰레기차 운전하는 환경미화원(garbage truck driver)과 construction worker이다.
